Dựa theo thông tin của steemian @minion, vào ngày 24 tháng 3 năm 2016, chuỗi khối đầu tiên (Block 1) Steem blockchain đã được hình thành vào lúc 16:05:00 UTC.[1]Và bài viết đầu tiên trên Steemit được soạn thảo vào ngày 30 tháng 3 năm 2016: https://steemit.com/meta/@steemit/firstpost[2]
Vào ngày 4 tháng 7, cùng với Ngày Độc lập Hoa Kỳ, Steemit đã thực hiện các khoản thanh toán đầu tiên của mình và hoạt động với đủ đầy chức năng.
Vào tháng 2 năm 2017, steemian Stephen Kendal (@stephenkendal) đã đề xuất một lễ kỷ niệm sinh nhật đầu tiên: "Đánh dấu đây là một cột mốc quan trọng cho Steemit và những thành tựu mà nó đã đạt được trong vòng một năm."
