Balena (ita)
Il termine “Whale” (Balena) in origine veniva usato per descrivere quei trader di Bitcoin ricchi che hanno la capacità di influenzare il mercato. Il termine ha iniziato poi a essere ampiamente usato per indicare qualsiasi trader di cryptomonete facoltoso.
In particolare su Steemit.com, il termine Whale si riferisce a quegli utenti che hanno accumulato una grande quantità di Steem Power e che hanno quindi il potere di influenzare alcuni aspetti della piattaforma, come per esempio il voting power o i pagamenti (payouts) che sono decisamente consistenti, quantomeno se comparati ai nuovi utenti. In generale, i Whale hanno in genere una più alta reputazione (in genere superiore a 70). Di solito, i Whale fanno parte di Steemit.com o in generale hanno iniziato a investire in STEEM da un periodo relativamente lungo rispetto alla media degli utenti.
L’utente Steem Witness@abit ha pubblicato un post a marzo 2017 dove afferma che i Whale e i gruppi di Whale detengono più di 800 milioni di vest in totale, circa 384 mila SP in totale. Nello stesso post spiega quali sono le operazioni matematiche dietro questo calcolo e conclude: a grandi poteri corrispondono grandi responsabilità.
Nell’Ecosistema di Steem ci sono siti come Steem Whales in cui è possibile visualizzare i ranking su base di STEEM Power (SP) degli steemians più importanti, oltre alla reputazione, valore stimato dell’account, ecc.
